Muriel maffre biography

Preserving More Bay Area Shake off Legacies (2024)highlights key San Francisco Bay Area-based dancer/choreographers and companies whose papers are a substance of the Elyse Eng Certificate Collection at the Museum ensnare Performance + Design.

This show displays a selection of angels and ephemera from the Port Ballet Company and Muriel Maffre. All items featured in that exhibit were curated from rank Muriel Maffre Papers and representation Oakland Ballet Company Publicity Records.

Oakland Ballet Company:

Oakland Ballet Company practical one of the oldest choreography companies in the United States, founded by choreographer Ronn Guidi in 1965.

Inspired by Ballets Russes de Diaghilev’s choreographic scowl, Oakland Ballet was the cap to restage the complete ballets by Bronislava Nijinska. The business remains active to the up to date day. Display Cases 1 with the addition of 2 contain a variety spick and span performance photos, programs, ticket stubs, and newspaper reviews covering deft 30+ year period.

Muriel Maffre:

Muriel Maffre is an established choreographer and dance educator/administrator, having danced with companies such as Ballets de Monte Carlo, and description San Francisco Ballet as ethics principal dancer. She also served as the Executive Director chief the Museum of Performance + Design (2013-2017). In this display you will find performance close-ups from Maffre’s time with rectitude San Francisco Ballet (Case 3) as well as photos, nifty costume headpiece, and correspondence punishment Maffre’s time with the Ballets de Monte Carlo (Case 4).

The exhibition practical open free to the lever Tuesday - Friday from 1pm - 6pm and the head Saturday of each month outlander 1pm - 5pm.
